Don't you hate it when you get a post half typed up with all the links and the the bloody computer decides to shut down that program! Grrr, this happened last night so I decided to call it a night and was actually in bed by midnight. Anyway today is a new day!! Take two....
(I will be saving each sentence in drafts as I go now, you think I would have learnt by now! LOL)
First I just want to post this regarding a fundraiser for Japan, being organised by Tomoko in Japan...
Hi everyone.
On March 11th, there was a big earthquake, the biggest earthquake ever to hit Japan recorded as magnitude 9.0 in Tohoku region. Also, that earthquake led another big quake in Kanto capital region. I am seeing these scenes by news and just feel so terrified by this tragedy....
I want to call out for your help. I am thinking of selling artists/scrapper's creations on online in Japan(they can be cards or anything) and donate the profit to Japan Red Cross Society, where they can send the money to the places that were affected.
If you are able to help, please send me an email to "ponyo0315@gmail.com" so I can send you the address to send your creation(s).
***Since all profits will be donated, I hope you will understand that I will not be able to pay for the expenses.
Thank you so much. Your help will be greatly appreciated.
Tomoko
It is just so hard to imagine the devastation and terror happening over there at the moment! Makes you feel so helpless while we sit safely in our homes.
Trina McClune hit the nail on the head with her recent blog post HERE!
One good thing that has come out of all the natural disasters lately is that I feel more at peace with myself and am focusing on living each day with a new found gratitude. Love and family is the only consistant that we can count on in this world, nothing else really matters, its just stuff. Seeing an interview of one of the survivors in Japan after his town and home were wiped out from the Tsunami and having the threat of the Nucleur explosion he was asked how he felt about losing his home and the ongoing threats. He said he didn't care, because all his family were together and alive and it didn't matter if they died as long as they were together. This really hit home for me. He was at peace with whatever was around the corner!
We are blessed to have a happy, healthy family and at the end of the day that is all that matters to me.
I am in a good place now with my family who I love and love being around and I feel positive about our future and I am at peace with what is around the corner.
Anyway back to some more Dusty Goodness!!
This layout only came about after being challenged by a friend to do The Colour Room challenge this week!! It was so nice to just play and not think about what techniques I was doing etc! I think I need to do this more often!! It come about in one night which is rare for me!!
Here is This weeks Colour Pallette...
Here is what I did with this challenge!!... I don't usually scrap with a lot of pink so this was fun! :)
This was one of our cats that we only had for 12 months before she went missing, she was a funny cat!
It wasn't until we got 2 new cats in the last 12 months that we realised how high maintenance she really was! I guess you could call her a real Diva! LOL She used to cuddle your hand if you patted her on the head and loved this teddy bear that is in the photos. But boy she was hard work, she used to keep us up all night wanting to play, wasn't the best cat for toilet training, especially if the kids left their towels on the floor... so in the long run as sad as it was to lose her, we now have 2 beautiful well behaved, toilet trained cats that are a breeze to have around!
She sure was a character though!
Materials used on this layout are: White Cardstock, Tim Holts Masks - Regal & Floret, Tsukinek spray INk - Cherry Blossom, Fibre Scraps - EZ Walnut INk Tintz - Rose, Distress Crackle paint - Aged Mahogany, Black Water Colour Pencil, White Paint, Prima Flowers - Rossrtti Roses Grace & Ballerina Blooms Dorae, BG - Wholy Cow Rub Ons, Acetate, Flourish stamps, Black Staz On & Machine Sewing.
Dusty Attic items used on this layout are: Botanic Accents #2 - DA0461 & Ferns - DA0507
The Botanic Accents in the LH side of the pics were painted with the Distress Crackly paint then sprayed with the Cherry Blossom Ink. I went around some of the leaves with a white pen to give a bit more definition! The flourish in the top LH corner was cut in half and poked in behind the flower.
The Ferns were just inked with black Staz On. The White Botanic Accent in the top RH photo was painted white then gone around the edges with the black watercolour pencil then softened with a water brush.
To get the effect with the stitching around the edges sew around the page a few times and then take a sanding block and rough up some of the stitching to get that worn look to the edging.
To get this effect on the background page, I have used the Tim Holts Masks. Place the masks in position after you roughly work out where your photos are going. I used the E-Z Rose Ink Stain dabber over the center of the masks then used the Cherry Blossom Walnut Ink spray to soften and blend out the colours. I then took the masks off and zapped it with a heat gun. After it has dried I went around one edge of the mask patterns with a black water colour pencil then used a water brush (or a paint bush dipped in water) to soften the edges! Was really happy with how this turned out!
The extra black flourishes were stamped onto Acetate (clear transparency) with black Staz On Ink then cut out. You can stamp extra to keep in your stash to use at a later date as well. You can cut them up and place them anywhere then!!!
I will be starting my Dusty Attic Give Away on the weekend, so be sure to keep an eye out for it!!
